NanoMasque – from biotechnology to cosmetics
NanoMasque is a product of the Research Centre of Medical Technology
and Biotechnology in Bad Langensalza, Germany. It consists of
biotechnologically manufactured Nano-cellulose, which is a high-performance
material. Until recently, it was only available for highly specialized,
research purposes. As result of an extensive development project,
the Research Centre of Medical Technology and Biotechnology established
a process which allows the economic production of Nano-cellulose.
Now this excellent product is available for the cosmetic industry.
NanoMasque is highly biocompatible. This fact was proved in cell
culture experiments. Even easily damaged animal and human cells
(which are difficult to culture by standard methods) are growing
on NanoMasque. Recent reports on applications of Nanocellulose,
suggest that this material has a natural power to accelerate
wound healing processes [Czaja et al. in Biomaterials 27, 2006] – a
feature which will be of interest to the cosmetic industry.
Of course, NanoMasque is dermatologically tested. The use of
NanoMasque as a matrix for soluble cosmetic ingredients is patented
us.
